It’s ready! It’s here! It’s Falcon Feed! The creative writing class has just published its first issue of Falcon Feed, an online literary magazine. Inside this issue, you will find narrative poems and descriptive paragraphs written by 15 students as well as illustrations by students in Mrs. Hsuan’s art class. Where can you find Falcon Feed? Congratulations to be Blach Cross Country team for an incredible performance yesterday. The 8th Grade Girls came in 2nd in the League and were lead by Amber who also placed second in the division. Kevin, Matteo and Maddie all place in the top 15 in their divisions.
The Cross Country team will have a brief but mandatory meeting right after school today. Bring your clean jerseys and be ready to vote.

The 7th grade girls softball team lost a close game to Egan yesterday. Player of the game was Erin for her pitching and her home run.
The 8th grade softball team defeated Egan with a slugfest on Tuesday.
The Lady Falcons combined for 14 hits again, including a double by Angel
M. and triples by Andrea C. and Ilona S. The trio also pitched and combined to strike out 4 Viking batters. Maggie E. and Jessica D. were awesome behind the dish. The team record is now 6 and 2, and the final regular season game is this Thursday at Kennedy. Go Falcons!

Students guess what? Did you see that students in class got a REALLY cool LAYC Card? That means they are going to the first LAYC dance on Friday October 10. You can go to the dance too. Memberships are available at the Los Altos Recreation office. So get a membership- you can’t buy individual tickets! Everyone loves a LAYC and so will you! RSVPs begin October 1! Ask about our Just-Try-It to attend just one of the 2014 dances.

Well, you create a group of 3 people and the goal is to launch a rubber

chicken with a slingshot as far as you can across the quad.
Person 1: Me too! People competing in the chicken launch will need to be on the stage
today during lunch by 1:05. All members need to be present to compete.
Chorus students: Please report to the chorus room at the start of period 6 for today’s workshop. You will stay until 3:03 unless other arrangements have been made with your period 6 or 7 teacher.
Congratulations to the volleyball teams from Mather and Dewberry for their wins on Tuesday. NEXT Tuesday, the teams playing will be Hickman vs Hsuan and Shepherd vs Van De Vanter. If you need a lunch pass see Mrs Honigman before Tuesday.

The 7th grade girls softball team defeated Miller by a score of 12 to 10. Both teams have practice on Monday.
Blach defeated Miller in a great comeback game on Thursday. Ilona S. was injured on a line drive back to the mound in the first inning, and was able to re-enter to field later in the game. Andrea C. and Angel M. combined to pitch 3 shutout innings. Both Jessica D. and Maggie E. were solid behind the plate. The Lady Falcons rallied for 14 hits! A team high of 4 doubles were crushed deep to the outfield by Andrea C., Ilona S., Ashley K. and Jessica D. Both Maggie E. and Tanya S. laid down perfect bunts to reach base. The team is now 5 and 2. Our next game is this Tuesday away at Egan. Go Falcons!
Blach’s 8th grade boys lost another close one in five games to Miller. Great hits by Ian, Kyle and James and service runs by Matt, Kieran and Douglas.
In possibly the most exciting game this season, the 7th grade boys volleyball team came back to win 3-2 after being down 0-2 to Miller.
Great job boys!
Noon League is on for today, weather permitting. The teams are Greenbaum vs Harris and Ramirez vs Rolland. All teams must be ready by 1:16 sharp.

The Cross Country team will practice right after school today rain or shine. A huge CONGRATS to our runners- particularly Amber, Kevin, Maddy and Matteo who were our division leaders over the 1.8 mile course.

The 7th grade girls defeated Columbia yesterday to bring their record to 4 wins and 3 losses.
The 8th grade boys defeated Columbia yesterday 3 games to 0. Practice today after school to prepare for tomorrow’s match against Miller.

We have heard from several parents recently about kids riding their bikes to or from school in an unsafe way. Please be sure to follow the traffic rules, pay special attention to cars and pedestrians, and use hand signals so drivers know where you are going. Each year we have bike accidents, some quite serious. Wear your helmet and be a safe rider please!
The NOON LEAGUE volleyball games on Tuesday will be: Mather vs Maye and Dewberry vs Foy. All teams must be ready by 1:05 to be eligible to play.
